My asylum application was refused: how can I appeal and what happens to my legal status?

You can appeal, but since June 2026 the deadline may be much shorter than the usual two months: read the appeal instructions today.

Routes to consider

For applications filed from 12 June 2026, Regulation (EU) 2024/1348 applies: an administrative appeal (reposición) does not stop the court deadline, and the right to stay in Spain during the appeal has exceptions. Earlier applications are governed by Law 12/2009. Send us the decision the same day you receive it. Asylum and international protection
