What we assess
It is for people who held a residence permit in the previous two years and could not renew it for reasons other than public order, security or public health. It does not apply if the previous permit was granted on exceptional grounds. It requires two years of continuous stay and is granted for one year with permission to work; it can be extended for further one-year periods.

When should I start?
Once you meet the period of stay your route requires: two years for most arraigo routes, with absences of no more than 90 days for social and socio-educational arraigo; family arraigo has no minimum. Before leaving Spain, check how the trip would affect the count.
